INQ: In relation to the EJKs [extrajudicial killings] and the drug war, every country has a drug problem, perhaps it’s an issue in Manila, but it has never been an issue as in, say, Colombia or Mexico, where it threatens the very fabric of society. Now you have been implying that Duterte’s son is a key figure in drug smuggling in Davao …
SAT: And Duterte himself.
INQ: And Duterte himself. Do you have proof of that?
SAT: During the investigation, in relation to the seizure of P6.4 billion [worth of] shabu, the major players were all linked to Paolo Duterte [the president’s son]. Look at Mr. Duterte. For all his rhetoric on his war on drugs, his supposed personal crusade against illegal drugs, what did he do in this case? He didn’t even utter a single word. Worse, the prosecutor who dismissed the cases against these players was promoted to judge by Mr. Duterte. Right now, the only person who was charged in relation to this case was the warehouse guy. It’s a fake war on drugs.
And I agree that the drug problem in the Philippines is nowhere near the magnitude in Colombia and Mexico. The global average of the population exposed to illegal drugs is around 5%. In the Philippines it’s only 1.8%, and of that only .1% of the population are drug dependent. Most are occasional users, or marijuana users. So what Duterte did strikes a chord in the hearts of Filipinos, especially the parents. That’s why he created a demand for the brand of governance that he represented, because he didn’t know anything else, he couldn’t fashion himself as the guy who would turn around the economy and eradicate poverty. But the problem is, he was so good lying with a straight face that people bought into that.
Trillanes dared President Rodrigo Duterte to face the accusations.
“Mr. Duterte, the truth has finally come to haunt you. Nabibisto na ang mga pagpapanggap mo. Ikaw pala ang drug lord all along. Tsk tsk. Ang dami mong pinapatay na mga Pilipino para lang malinlang ang buong sambayanan. Pero, ngayon, harapin mo yan. Kahit bumula pa bibig mo sa galit, babalik at babalik yang issue na yan sa mukha mo,” Trillanes said.
“Mr. Rodrigo Duterte, the truth has finally come to haunt you. Your deception has finally been revealed. You are the drug lord all along. Tsk tsk. You ordered so many extrajudicial killing just to fool so many Filipinos. But now, you have to face the accusations. Even if your mouth bubbled up because of anger, the issue will haunt your face,” Trillanes said in English.
He recalled the time the President accused him of having offshore bank accounts, he confronted it squarely and “didn’t stop until I was able to debunk your lies” and the latter admitted that he just invented the accusations.

In a deviously prepared campaign of disinformation, deception and the dumbing down of politics funded by ill-gotten wealth stashed in secret accounts, we have witnessed how our own history has been revised. Facts have been replaced by perception.
During the recently-concluded campaign, attempts to raise serious questions in free and open debate had been quelled from the very start. It is for this reason that I once again bring my case to our people, particularly, our youth.
Plunder
Inevitably, the first questions that come to mind deal with plunder: What is Marcos Jr’s role in withholding the truth about the plunder that took place in our country during the period of martial rule and its aftermath? Has he benefited from the ill-gotten wealth that has been withheld from its rightful owners – our people, and thus complicit in the crime?
Painstaking efforts have been made to recover ill-gotten wealth for nearly four decades which have been obstructed by the Marcos heirs at every turn. Is the ascension of Marcos Jr. to the highest office in the land a prelude to finally burying the efforts to recover hidden ill-gotten wealth that has agonized in the labyrinth of injustice through all these years?
In a country saddled by debt in the trillions, isn’t having a thief-in-chief the last thing our country needs in this difficult hour?
Atrocities
The next set of questions deal with the reality of loss and pain that can never ever be forgotten, the atrocities committed under the Marcos rule.
Is Marcos Jr. able to appease the ghosts of crimes past and redress the deep hurts of those aggrieved by mere denials and the resort to rhetorical evasions to dispute the historical numbers: the cases of 3,527 persons killed extra-judicially or “salvaged”, 35,000 tortured, and some 70,000 arbitrarily arrested during the years of martial law and attested to by reputable international human rights organizations?
Is Marcos Jr. willing to acknowledge wrong-doing that took place under the Marcos watch, seek pardon and provide just restitution to countless victims whose lives and those of their loved ones have been shattered such as that of the Quimpo family whose testimonies like so many others are recorded in the archives of the Commission on Human Rights, mandated by Congress to provide compensation to victims?
Unity
The one constant in the campaign of Marcos Jr was “Unity.” And, the question is this: can he truly become “the unifying leader” that our country needs in this perilous period of deep divisions? In fact, the better question that can be asked is this: would he not in reality be the country’s divider-in-chief?
Will he not in fact deepen the divisions among our people? Will he not further debase the true meaning of “unity and reconciliation”? Will he not instead re-open the wounds inflicted by dictatorial rule, and, ironically, obstruct the process of “moving on?” Will he not in the end deceive us twice over as ill-gotten wealth plundered from our people is now used to whitewash untruths, further revise history and replace facts with lies and misinformation?
The return of a Marcos to power will indeed raise more questions than answers. It will certainly raise more rage and anger. It will stop us dead on our tracks for instead of moving forward we will be litigating unanswered questions to a past that continues to be present.
If our generation, those of us who lived through the people power experience, may have faltered and failed, perhaps the youth will be wiser and braver. I am certain that they will not allow the perpetuation of a fraud. Not on their watch!

In filing his certificate of candidacy, Marcos, Jr. swore under oath that: (A) He is eligible for the office of the Philippine President, and (B) He has never been found liable for any offense which carries the accessory penalty of perpetual disqualification to hold public office.
In 2001, while he was the governor of Ilocos Norte, Marcos, Jr.’s conviction for failing to file income tax returns for the years 1982 to 1985, became final. He had deliberately failed to file his tax returns during the years in question and even during the pendency of his tax evasion cases. He violated the National Internal Revenue Code. Under the Tax Code, Marcos Jr. is perpetually disqualified from holding any public office, to vote and to participate in any election.
The crimes for which Marcos, Jr. was convicted – four counts – and the circumstances surrounding the conviction, establish his moral turpitude. He repeatedly and deliberately refused to file his income tax returns, even during the years he was a public officer. Mandated by his elective position to abide by and enforce the laws, Marcos, Jr. flouted his duty.
Under the Omnibus Election Code, any person who has been sentenced by final judgment for a crime involving moral turpitude, shall be disqualified to be a candidate and to hold any office. The Supreme Court defines moral turpitude to include everything done contrary to justice, honesty or good morals: “An act of baseness, vileness, or depravity in the private duties which a man owes his fellow men, or to society in general, contrary to the accepted and customary rule of right and duty between man and woman, or conduct contrary to justice, honesty, modesty, or good morals.”
Some say that BBMarcos was not required to file income tax returns on the premise that taxes were already withheld from his compensation.
The notion is INCORRECT.
The ITRs that BBM was supposed to file were for years 1982 to 1985 during which time the filing of ITRs of individuals earning purely compensation income was still mandatorily required even if taxes were already withheld from their compensation income.
The certificates of taxes withheld from their compensation (BIR Form W-2) are attached to their ITRs. Meaning, the certificates of income tax withheld (W-2) should be filed along with the ITRs.
The SUBSTITUTED FILING OF ITRs, took effect only in 1998 under Revenue Regulations (RR) No. 2-98 and fully implemented in 2002 under RR No. 3-2002 dated 22 March 2002.
Under this system, employees receiving purely compensation income, regardless of amount, from only one employer for one taxable year, are no longer required to file ITRs if the taxes withheld from their compensation are already EQUAL to the tax due computed based on their compensation income for the taxable year.
The employer is required to submit to the BIR the Alphalist of employees from whom taxes were withheld.
The employer furnishes each employee with a certificate of tax withheld from compensation (BIR Form 2316) which serves as the substitute for the ITR. The employee is no longer required to file the same with the BIR.

The National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) mandates that any person convicted of a crime penalized by this Code shall be PERPETUALLY DISQUALIFIED from holding any public office, to vote, and to participate in any election.
Section 254 of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1158 otherwise known as the NIRC of 1977 which was signed into law by the then President Ferdinand E Marcos that took effect on 03 June 1977, provides:
“Failure to file return, supply information, pay tax, withhold and remit tax.
“Any person required under this Code or by regulations promulgated thereunder to pay any tax, make a return, keep any records, or supply any information, who willfully fails to pay such tax, make such return, keep such records, or supply such information, or withhold or remit taxes withheld, at the time or times required by law, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than five thousand pesos nor more than fifty thousand pesos, or imprisoned for not less than six months and one day but not more than five years, or both.”
Section 252 of the same Tax Code mandates that – any person convicted of a crime penalized by this Code shall be PERPETUALLY DISQUALIFIED from holding any public office, to vote and to participate in any election.
The above-quoted provision of Section 254 clearly enumerates the nature of criminal tax violations such as:
1. Failure to file return;
2. Failure to supply information;
3. Failure to pay tax;
4. Failure to withhold tax; and
5. Failure to remit tax withheld.
Meaning, each of the above nature of violation is independent of the other. Thus, a person convicted of any of the above enumerations shall be fined or imprisoned, or both, and shall be perpetually disqualified from holding any public office as provided in Section 252 of the same Tax Code.
When Batas Pambansa (BP) 135 was enacted in 1982, except for numbers 4 and 5 of the above enumerations, all other nature of criminal tax violations were still mentioned. The said law did not repeal the provision in Section 252 of PD 1158. Thus, the perpetual disqualification clause stayed until the enactment of PD 1994 that took effect on 01 January 1986.

The votes cast in favor of eligible and legitimate candidates form part of that voice and must also be respected.”
“Let’s cut to the chase and directly discuss situations wherein a candidate who obtained the highest number of votes from among the QUALIFIED candidates takes the place of a disqualified winning candidate, to wit:
“A candidate for mayor who obtained the highest number of votes from among the QUALIFIED candidates took the place of a disqualified winning candidate.

“Gubernatorial candidate Emilio Ramon “E.R.” P. Ejercito was not considered non-candidate by reason of his disqualification since he had a valid Certificate of Candidacy which was never cancelled.
“Suffice it to state that when the disqualification of the candidate bears no relation to his eligibility, the vacancy will be filled up by applying the rules on succession under the Local Government Code.”

May VP Leni Robredo win the presidential seat with the help of the Supreme Court cancelling BBM certificate of candidacy (COC) thereby upholding the electoral integrity!
If the Supreme Court decides not to cancel BBM’s COC, then as president-elect, may his actions for the next six years be constructive, beneficial and respectful of human rights.
Lawyer Dante Gatmaytan, a professor at the University of the Philippines College of Law, told INQUIRER.net that should the SC reverse the Comelec resolution because Marcos Jr. was disqualified, his COC will be declared void.

While it’s too early to say how the new seven Atenean justices might vote on the disqualification cases against Ferdinand Marcos Jr. from holding office as president, we are keeping our fingers crossed. Former chief justice Panganiban, whose knowledge of the law is beyond question, had this to say last Jan. 31, 2022: Marcos Jr. was “unquestionably convicted of a crime penalized (under the Tax Code of 1977) by perpetual disqualification.” If they will just follow the clear language of that law and vote with Justices Marvic Leonen and Benjamin Caguioa (appointed by the late President Benigno Aquino III and therefore not beholden to Marcos-friendly President Duterte), nine votes will be more than enough to stop Marcos Jr. and his family from occupying Malacañang once again for the next six years!

From the table and graph shown in the pictures below, one can show mathematically that the results coming from the Comelec Transparency Server of the 2022 election are highly statistically improbable. Unless Comelec can show proof that these results ACTUALLY occurred, then the 2022 election is more likely to have been rigged. The Transparency Server showed to the public that at 8:02pm of May 9, just an hour after the voting closed at 7:00pm, at least 20,061,691 votes were counted based on the votes garnered by the top five presidential candidates. Assuming that each Vote Counting Machine (VCM) is serving an average of 750 voters per precincts, the 20M votes would have been transmitted by at least 26,712 VCMs. This is a spectacular accomplishment of Comelec if true, because in our election history, never were votes counted this fast ever before. Yet this first hour of counting was never replicated, in fact it was exceedingly reduced in the second hour and in succeeding hours that counting was done from 7pm of May 9, to 3:18pm of May 13. On the second hour alone, from 8:02pm to 9:02pm of May 9, the counting drastically dropped from 20,061,691 to just 13,248,630 votes. What could be the explanation of this more than 34% drop from the first hour count, considering that in the first hour, administrative matters must first be performed by the teachers acting as members of the Election Board (EB) in each precinct before the VCM can transmit the Election Returns (ERs). It would be expected that MORE VCMs will be ready to transmit their ERs in the second hour than in the first hour. What could possibly change in one hour to explain that on the first hour of counting the Transparency Server was processing ERs at a very fast average time of 0.14 second per ER, and suddenly slowed down to just 0.203 second and more per ER? Did our nationwide internet speed which was spectacularly fast from 7:00pm to 8:02pm of May 9, suddenly slowed down for the rest of the counting period, a highly improbable event?
In that first hour where 20M votes were counted by the Comelec Transparency Server, would have been the greatest achievement of Comelec in our history, for it would be a record that would compare, if not surpass counting of votes in more advanced countries with better internet connectivity. But instead of preserving that historical moment, Comelec hastily deleted all files in the Transparency Server. Comelec could have shown the world of its achievement by providing the public the date/time stamps of all ERs received by the Transparency Server from 7:00pm to 8:02pm to prove that indeed there were a number of ERs transmitted by VCMs nationwide on that first hour to account for the 20M votes. All citizens know that in any transmission received in their cell phones or computers carries with it a date/time stamp from the telco provider, which could prove that there were actually enough ERs transmitted in that one hour slot to record the breaking 20M votes counted in less than an hour. Deleting that proof in the Transparency Server is NOT the normal action of a someone with a proud accomplishment. It is in fact the action of someone who faked an accomplishment and erasing all evidences that would point to rigging that accomplishment. But all telcos that transmitted the ERs between 7:00pm to 8:02pm of May 9 to the Transparency Server, still hold a record of these transactions in their Call Detail Records (CDRs) which could be petitioned by concerned citizens through a court order so that the TRUTH will come out.
These are the facts. On the first hour of counting in the Transparency Server, which was spectacularly fast, the uncanny vote ratios for ALL candidates for President and for Vice-President appeared and hardly changed at all till the end of counting four days later. For all intent and purposes, the election results for President and VP were established in that first hour alone. Comelec explained that the uncanny constant vote ratio is because of the Law of Large Number that was attained in the first hour of counting. If Comelec can not show that at least 20M votes were counted on that first hour (why did they delete the data in the Transparency Server that could have shown this?) then their theory of large number will fall flat and the 2022 election would have been rigged. Since COMELEC does not even acknowledge the spectacular result that the Smartmatic system showed in the first hour of the counting as a crowning achievement, it should seriously take the advise of PRRD and PBBM to dispose of Smartmatic in our future elections and change it with a more transparent, credible and less expensive Hybrid system.

Curcumin is the yellow-orange antioxidant in the Indian spice turmeric. Earlier lab studies have found many health benefits, but because curcumin is hard to absorb, doctors have questioned its usefulness in humans. In this study, researchers used a curcumin-lipid mixture that would improve absorption, even at a relatively low dose.
In the study, 38 healthy men and women, aged 40 to 60, took 80 mg of curcumin per day, or a placebo. After four weeks, while there were no changes for placebo, compared to the start of the study, those who took curcumin had an average decline in triglycerides of 15 mg per deciliter of blood and significantly higher blood levels of nitric oxide, which helps lower blood pressure. Doctors also found lower levels of a molecule linked to artery clogging, higher levels of an antioxidant enzyme, lower levels of an enzyme linked to liver disease, and a small drop in beta amyloid protein, which is linked to brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease.

The use and abuse of opioids (prescription pain medications) is now responsible for an astonishing 44 deaths per day in America, surpassing auto accidents as the leading cause of accidental deaths in American adults. North American Opioid Epidemic Campaign
A primary mission of the Acupuncture Now Foundation (ANF) is to educate not only the public but healthcare providers and health policymakers about the potential of acupuncture. In North America a great deal of concern has been raised over what is being called the “opioid epidemic.” Opioids are a class of pain relieving drugs that include codeine, morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, and some others under popular prescription names such as Vicodin, Percocet, Naloxone, etc. The use and abuse of these medications is now responsible for 44 deaths per day in America, surpassing auto accidents as the leading cause of accidental deaths in American adults.
Considering acupuncture’s stellar safety record and its ability to stimulate the production of the body’s own natural internal opioid chemistry, it is the position of the Acupuncture Now Foundation that acupuncture should be considered as a first choice non-opioid therapy for the treatment of any condition for which acupuncture has been found to be nearly as effective, as effective, or more effective than conventional care.
The ANF has teamed with the American Society of Acupuncturists to form the Joint Acupuncture Opioid Task Force. The Task Force submitted a packet of information including a great deal of research on acupuncture to the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC was soliciting public comments for the development of their new opioid prescribing guidelines and we are advocating for an expanded role for acupuncture in addressing this crisis. The ANF also recently gave testimony in two states (California and Minnesota) where officials were calling for input into their policies. Copies of those letters are linked below. In Minnesota, their Health Services Advisory Council, a group of representatives consisting of doctors and health care providers, health insurance company representatives, and other officials, held a series of meetings to consider giving their recommendation to expand acupuncture services. After considering a good deal of information this advisory panel voted to recommend the state cover acupuncture services under their Medicaid system for the conditions listed below. We commend this panel for their willingness to make acupuncture more available to the citizens of their state and encourage drug-free therapy and thank those who presented information to that panel.
In our letter to the California Workers’ Compensation regulators, we detail studies showing acupuncture to be twice as effective as conventional care for treating chronic low back pain and further studies showing that this condition is the most common reason opioids are prescribed. After quoting their current guidelines that only allow for acupuncture to be used after drugs have been tried, the ANF called for these guidelines to be changed to allow acupuncture as a first choice treatment.

Research shows that acupuncture, just like cannabis, works to help heal and regulate the endocannabinoid system and many of the body’s other systems. Not much has been thought about the possible links between acupuncture and cannabis until some researchers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University discovered it. The findings, which were published by the National Institutes of Health, revealed how electro-acupuncture (an electric form of traditional acupuncture) can increase the cannabinoid activity in the body, thereby making pain more tolerable.
In animal models of arthritis, the researchers discovered that repeated treatment using electro-acupuncture increased cannabinoid receptors in the striatum of the brain which is loaded with dopamine cells. The rat subjects showed signs of less pain after being treated with acupuncture. If cannabinoids are the reason why acupuncture works so well in dulling pain, then combining cannabis and acupuncture can be a possible cost-effective, safe, and natural solution for pain and other ailments.

Lagundi, also known as Negundo Chaste Tree, Cut-Leaf Chaste Tree, Five-Leaved Chaste Tree, Indian Privet, Horseshoe Vitex, Lenggundi, Nirgundi, Sindvar, Negundo, Dabtan, Dangla, Khemao, etc. is a large shrub recognized for its wide variety of health benefits. The scientific name of this plant is Vitex negundo.
It has been used as a traditional herbal medicine for centuries. The Philippine Department of Health, too, has included lagundi in its list of 10 medicinal plants with clinically proven medicinal values.
Lagundi is native to the Philippines, in fact it is usually seen in swamps in the Philippines. It grows in tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate regions of the world.
The palmately leaves, blue to lavender-colored flowers, root and seeds of this shrub, all have healing properties. The root, for instance has tonic, expectorant and febrifuge properties. In addition, the fruit has nervine, cephalic, aphrodisiac, and emmenagogue properties; when dried it is considered a vermifuge.
The best way to use this herb is to have it in the form of an herbal tea or concoction. For this, you need to boil one cup of lagundi leaves, whether fresh or dried, in four cups of water for 10 to 15 minutes, let it steep and then strain the liquid. You can also use other parts of the plant like the leaves, root or seeds to prepare the decoction.
It is generally recommended to drink one-half cup of this lagundi tea three times a day. Store the remaining solution in a glass container for future use. Continue the treatment for about one week. Though lagundi has not been found to cause any side effects still, make sure to consult a medical professional before starting this or any other herbal treatment.
Relieves Digestive Troubles
Lagundi flowers can be used to get rid of digestive troubles such as diarrhea, cholera, and the same. The root too is good for relieving colic, dyspepsia and intestinal worms. The powdered root works as a demulcent and hence, is often used for treating hemorrhoids.
To relieve digestive distress, you can prepare a decoction by boiling a handful of lagundi leaves and flowers in two cups of water till the amount of water reduces to half. Strain the solution and divide it in three parts to be taken three times a day.
Tonic for Liver
Lagundi flowers help treat diseases of the liver. Mover, studies have found lagundi leaves to have hepatoprotective effects on liver toxicity because of an iridiod glycoside, Negundoside.
A decoction prepared from lagundi flowers also works as a cardiac tonic. Plus, research has found that the herb offers anticonvulsant benefits that protect against seizures.
Treats Respiratory Complaints
The Philippine Department of Health has recognized the efficacy of this herb for the treatment of respiratory complaints like asthma, pharyngitis, cough, cold, and flu. In fact, the Philippine government is promoting this herb as a natural alternative to Western cough medicines.
To relieve cough you can either drink lagundi tea or combine it with other herbal remedies as well. It is generally suggested to take one cup of the three times a day for cough relief.
When down with fever, drink it every three hours. Those suffering from asthma can boil six tablespoons of fresh or four tablespoons of dried leaves from this plant in two cups of water for 15 minutes. Strain the liquid and drink one-third cup of this decoction three times a day. Continue the treatment for one week.
The herb has been found to have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and analgesic properties. Plus, it contains a compound called Chrysoplenol D with anti-histamine and muscle relaxant properties that help relieve respiratory problems.
For instance, it prevents the production of a group of chemicals called leukotrienes that accompany inflammation occuuring during an asthma attack. In addition, lagundi offers antitussive and anti-asthma effects due to its anti-inflammatory activity. Thus, lagundi helps reduce the severity of symptoms of an asthma attack.
Combats RheumatismTaking a tincture of lagundi root-bark is considered effective for treating rheumatism. Plus, a vapor bath prepared from the plant too helps treat rheumatic affections. The leaves of the plant also relieve inflammation and swelling in the joints.Plus, lagundi leaves are used to relieve muscle sprains as well. For this, the leaves are crushed or heated over fire on an earthen pot and then used as a poultice.
Heals Skin Diseases
Lagundi seeds are great for providing relief from skin issues such as boils, chicken pox rashes, and even leprosy due to their cooling as well as antiseptic properties. Plus, the anti-histamine properties of lagundi contribute to its anti-itching effects.
You can also use a decoction prepared from the seeds for curing mouth inflammation. Soaking in warm bath water to which lagundi leaves have been added helps prevent insect bites.
Furthermore, when dealing with burns and scalds, the leaves can be bruised and used as a poultice on the affected area. It helps disinfect wounds and clear ulcers.
Another remedy involves boiling a handful or two of lagundi leaves in a pot of water for five minutes, cool and strain the solution, and then wash the wound with this decoction once or twice a day to stop bleeding.
Analgesic for Pain Relief
Lagundi has been shown to be quite effective as a pain reliever due to its analgesic properties and has even been compared to drugs like aspirin in trials.
As a folk remedy, people in Philippines, China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and other Asian countries often take lagundi as a herbal remedy for pain relief after dental extractions.
The herb can be taken for headache as well. Apart from taking it as a decoction, you can also apply crushed lagundi leaves on the forehead or stuff the leaves in a pillow and then sleep on it to relieve headache and catarrah.
For relief from toothache, boil six tablespoons of fresh or four tablespoons of dried lagundi leaves in two cups of water until half the amount of water evaporates. Divide the solution in three parts and drink it every three to four hours. When using this remedy for children, use fewer leaves to make the decoction.
If you cannot get fresh lagundi leaves, flowers or root then you can get this herb in the form of capsule and syrup at the drug stores. Furthermore, you may find similar preparations from this herb through naturopaths, or practitioners of herbal and alternative medicine.

Cannabis (recreational) will soon be legalized in July 1, 2018 in Canada and are legal in some states in US to end its prohibition, and promote its medical use to relieve medical conditions including cancer, chronic pain and depression. Unfortunately, it is still classified as a schedule 1 illegal drug under Republic Act 9165 in the Philippines. Both the Senate bill and Congress Bill 4477 to legalize marijuana for medical reasons is still pending in the legislature waiting for approval by senators and congressmen.
The dire situation in the Philippines where cannabis is illegal under Republic Act 9165 has presented a big problem to Filipinos, soldiers and civilians with PTSD, tourists and senior balikbayan Filipinos who need to use medical cannabis for their health conditions – chronic pain, hypertension, stroke, PTSD, cancer and other chronic degenerative diseases.
May the legislators (senators and congressmen) pass HB 180, the Philippine compassionate medical cannabis act, giving consideration to chronically sick Filipinos access to medical cannabis together with tourists and senior balikbayan who prefer to use cannabis for medical reasons instead of pharmaceuticals.

House Bill 180 provides the State shall legalize and regulate the medical use of cannabis which has been confirmed to have beneficial and therapeutic uses to treat chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition that produces one or more of the following: cachexia or wasting syndrome; severe and chronic pain; severe nausea; seizures, including but not limited to those characteristic of epilepsy; or severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those associated with multiple sclerosis.
The bill mandates the Department of Health (DOH) Secretary to lead the formulation of regulations to implement the Act. The Secretary shall also issue registered identification (ID) cards to qualified patients after a careful review of their required documents.
Why ask medical doctors to legalize medical cannabis? Why not ask the majority of Filipinos instead?
Please stop convincing medical allopathic doctors to approve medical cannabis despite the medical benefits of cannabis plant. Medical doctors in the Philippines and abroad are educated in reductionist medical philosophy rather than holistic medical philosophy which the alternative holistic – body, mind and spirit – practitioners follow such as Chinese medicine practitioners.
Therefore, I believe that most medical doctors will not recommend the legalization of cannabis plant, an herbal holistic medicine, because medical doctors are influenced by the pharmaceutical industry and will negatively affect their allopathic (drug) practice which is their specialty.

O Salmán! The door of the knowledge of the Ancient Being hath ever been, and will continue forever to be, closed in the face of men. No man’s understanding shall ever gain access unto His holy court. As a token of His mercy, however, and as a proof of His loving-kindness, He hath manifested unto men the Daystars of His divine guidance, the Symbols of His divine unity, and hath ordained the knowledge of these sanctified Beings to be identical with the knowledge of His own Self. Whoso recognizeth them hath recognized God. Whoso hearkeneth to their call, hath hearkened to the Voice of God, and whoso testifieth to the truth of their Revelation, hath testified to the truth of God Himself. The purpose of God in creating man hath been, and will ever be, to enable him to know his Creator and to attain His Presence. To this most excellent aim, this supreme objective, all the heavenly Books and the divinely revealed and weighty Scriptures unequivocally bear witness. Whoso hath recognized the Dayspring of Divine guidance and entered His holy court hath drawn nigh unto God and attained His Presence, a Presence which is the real Paradise, and of which the loftiest mansions of heaven are but a symbol. Such a man hath attained the knowledge of the station of Him Who is “at the distance of two bows,” Who standeth beyond the Sadratu’l-Muntahá. Whoso hath failed to recognize Him will have condemned himself to the misery of remoteness, a remoteness which is naught but utter nothingness and the essence of the nethermost fire. Such will be his fate, though to outward seeming he may occupy the earth’s loftiest seats and be established upon its most exalted throne.
He Who is the Dayspring of Truth is, no doubt, fully capable of rescuing from such remoteness wayward souls and of causing them to draw nigh unto His court and attain His Presence. “If God had pleased He had surely made all men one people.” His purpose, however, is to enable the pure in spirit and the detached in heart to ascend, by virtue of their own innate powers, unto the shores of the Most Great Ocean, that thereby they who seek the Beauty of the All-Glorious may be distinguished and separated from the wayward and perverse. Thus hath it been ordained by the allglorious and resplendent Pen.…
That the Manifestations of Divine justice, the Daysprings of heavenly grace, have when they appeared amongst men always been destitute of all earthly dominion and shorn of the means of worldly ascendancy, should be attributed to this same principle of separation and distinction which animateth the Divine Purpose. Were the Eternal Essence to manifest all that is latent within Him, were He to shine in the plentitude of His glory, none would be found to question His power or repudiate His truth. Nay, all created things would be so dazzled and thunderstruck by the evidences of His light as to be reduced to utter nothingness. How, then, can the godly be differentiated under such circumstances from the froward?
This principle hath operated in each of the previous Dispensations and been abundantly demonstrated.… It is for this reason that, in every age, when a new Manifestation hath appeared and a fresh revelation of God’s transcendent power was vouchsafed unto men, they that misbelieved in Him, deluded by the appearance of the peerless and everlasting Beauty in the garb of mortal men, have failed to recognize Him. They have erred from His path and eschewed His company—the company of Him Who is the Symbol of nearness to God. They have even arisen to decimate the ranks of the faithful and to exterminate such as believed in Him.
Behold how in this Dispensation the worthless and foolish have fondly imagined that by such instruments as massacre, plunder and banishment they can extinguish the Lamp which the Hand of Divine power hath lit, or eclipse the Daystar of everlasting splendor. How utterly unaware they seem to be of the truth that such adversity is the oil that feedeth the flame of this Lamp! Such is God’s transforming power. He changeth whatsoever He willeth; He verily hath power over all things.…
Consider at all times the sovereignty exercised by the Ideal King, and behold the evidences of His power and paramount influence. Sanctify your ears from the idle talk of them that are the symbols of denial and the exponents of violence and anger. The hour is approaching when ye will witness the power of the one true God triumphing over all created things and the signs of His sovereignty encompassing all creation. On that day ye will discover how all else besides Him will have been forgotten and come to be regarded as utter nothingness.
It should, however, be borne in mind that God and His Manifestation can, under no circumstances, be dissociated from the loftiness and sublimity which They inherently possess. Nay, loftiness and sublimity are themselves the creations of His Word, if ye choose to see with My sight not with yours.

All praise and glory be to God Who, through the power of His might, hath delivered His creation from the nakedness of nonexistence, and clothed it with the mantle of life. From among all created things He hath singled out for His special favor the pure, the gem-like reality of man, and invested it with a unique capacity of knowing Him and of reflecting the greatness of His glory. This twofold distinction conferred upon him hath cleansed away from his heart the rust of every vain desire, and made him worthy of the vesture with which his Creator hath deigned to clothe him. It hath served to rescue his soul from the wretchedness of ignorance.
This robe with which the body and soul of man hath been adorned is the very foundation of his well-being and development. Oh, how blessed the day when, aided by the grace and might of the one true God, man will have freed himself from the bondage and corruption of the world and all that is therein, and will have attained unto true and abiding rest beneath the shadow of the Tree of Knowledge!
The songs which the bird of thine heart had uttered in its great love for its friends have reached their ears, and moved Me to answer thy questions, and reveal to thee such secrets as I am allowed to unfold. In thine esteemed letter thou hadst inquired which of the Prophets of God should be regarded as superior to others. Know thou assuredly that the essence of all the Prophets of God is one and the same. Their unity is absolute. God, the Creator, saith: There is no distinction whatsoever among the Bearers of My Message. They all have but one purpose; their secret is the same secret. To prefer one in honor to another, to exalt certain ones above the rest, is in no wise to be permitted. Every true Prophet hath regarded His Message as fundamentally the same as the Revelation of every other Prophet gone before Him. If any man, therefore, should fail to comprehend this truth, and should consequently indulge in vain and unseemly language, no one whose sight is keen and whose understanding is enlightened would ever allow such idle talk to cause him to waver in his belief.
The measure of the revelation of the Prophets of God in this world, however, must differ. Each and every one of them hath been the Bearer of a distinct Message, and hath been commissioned to reveal Himself through specific acts. It is for this reason that they appear to vary in their greatness. Their Revelation may be likened unto the light of the moon that sheddeth its radiance upon the earth. Though every time it appeareth, it revealeth a fresh measure of its brightness, yet its inherent splendor can never diminish, nor can its light suffer extinction.
It is clear and evident, therefore, that any apparent variation in the intensity of their light is not inherent in the light itself, but should rather be attributed to the varying receptivity of an everchanging world. Every Prophet Whom the Almighty and Peerless Creator hath purposed to send to the peoples of the earth hath been entrusted with a Message, and charged to act in a manner that would best meet the requirements of the age in which He appeared. God’s purpose in sending His Prophets unto men is twofold. The first is to liberate the children of men from the darkness of ignorance, and guide them to the light of true understanding. The second is to ensure the peace and tranquillity of mankind, and provide all the means by which they can be established.
The Prophets of God should be regarded as physicians whose task is to foster the well-being of the world and its peoples, that, through the spirit of oneness, they may heal the sickness of a divided humanity. To none is given the right to question their words or disparage their conduct, for they are the only ones who can claim to have understood the patient and to have correctly diagnosed its ailments. No man, however acute his perception, can ever hope to reach the heights which the wisdom and understanding of the Divine Physician have attained. Little wonder, then, if the treatment prescribed by the physician in this day should not be found to be identical with that which he prescribed before. How could it be otherwise when the ills affecting the sufferer necessitate at every stage of his sickness a special remedy? In like manner, every time the Prophets of God have illumined the world with the resplendent radiance of the Daystar of Divine knowledge, they have invariably summoned its peoples to embrace the light of God through such means as best befitted the exigencies of the age in which they appeared. They were thus able to scatter the darkness of ignorance, and to shed upon the world the glory of their own knowledge. It is towards the inmost essence of these Prophets, therefore, that the eye of every man of discernment must be directed, inasmuch as their one and only purpose hath always been to guide the erring, and give peace to the afflicted.… These are not days of prosperity and triumph. The whole of mankind is in the grip of manifold ills. Strive, therefore, to save its life through the wholesome medicine which the almighty hand of the unerring Physician hath prepared.
And now concerning thy question regarding the nature of religion. Know thou that they who are truly wise have likened the world unto the human temple. As the body of man needeth a garment to clothe it, so the body of mankind must needs be adorned with the mantle of justice and wisdom. Its robe is the Revelation vouchsafed unto it by God. Whenever this robe hath fulfilled its purpose, the Almighty will assuredly renew it. For every age requireth a fresh measure of the light of God. Every Divine Revelation hath been sent down in a manner that befitted the circumstances of the age in which it hath appeared.
As to thy question regarding the sayings of the leaders of past religions. Every wise and praiseworthy man will no doubt eschew such vain and profitless talk. The incomparable Creator hath created all men from one same substance, and hath exalted their reality above the rest of His creatures. Success or failure, gain or loss, must, therefore, depend upon man’s own exertions. The more he striveth, the greater will be his progress. We fain would hope that the vernal showers of the bounty of God may cause the flowers of true understanding to spring from the soil of men’s hearts, and may wash them from all earthly defilements.

And now concerning thy question regarding the soul of man and its survival after death. Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty. The movement of My Pen is stilled when it attempteth to befittingly describe the loftiness and glory of so exalted a station. The honor with which the Hand of Mercy will invest the soul is such as no tongue can adequately reveal, nor any other earthly agency describe. Blessed is the soul which, at the hour of its separation from the body, is sanctified from the vain imaginings of the peoples of the world. Such a soul liveth and moveth in accordance with the Will of its Creator, and entereth the all-highest Paradise. The Maids of Heaven, inmates of the loftiest mansions, will circle around it, and the Prophets of God and His chosen ones will seek its companionship. With them that soul will freely converse, and will recount unto them that which it hath been made to endure in the path of God, the Lord of all worlds. If any man be told that which hath been ordained for such a soul in the worlds of God, the Lord of the throne on high and of earth below, his whole being will instantly blaze out in his great longing to attain that most exalted, that sanctified and resplendent station.… The nature of the soul after death can never be described, nor is it meet and permissible to reveal its whole character to the eyes of men. The Prophets and Messengers of God have been sent down for the sole purpose of guiding mankind to the straight Path of Truth. The purpose underlying Their revelation hath been to educate all men, that they may, at the hour of death, ascend, in the utmost purity and sanctity and with absolute detachment, to the throne of the Most High. The light which these souls radiate is responsible for the progress of the world and the advancement of its peoples. They are like unto leaven which leaveneth the world of being, and constitute the animating force through which the arts and wonders of the world are made manifest. Through them the clouds rain their bounty upon men, and the earth bringeth forth its fruits. All things must needs have a cause, a motive power, an animating principle. These souls and symbols of detachment have provided, and will continue to provide, the supreme moving impulse in the world of being. The world beyond is as different from this world as this world is different from that of the child while still in the womb of its mother. When the soul attaineth the Presence of God, it will assume the form that best befitteth its immortality and is worthy of its celestial habitation. Such an existence is a contingent and not an absolute existence, inasmuch as the former is preceded by a cause, whilst the latter is independent thereof. Absolute existence is strictly confined to God, exalted be His glory. Well is it with them that apprehend this truth. Wert thou to ponder in thine heart the behavior of the Prophets of God thou wouldst assuredly and readily testify that there must needs be other worlds besides this world. The majority of the truly wise and learned have, throughout the ages, as it hath been recorded by the Pen of Glory in the Tablet of Wisdom, borne witness to the truth of that which the holy Writ of God hath revealed. Even the materialists have testified in their writings to the wisdom of these divinely appointed Messengers, and have regarded the references made by the Prophets to Paradise, to hell fire, to future reward and punishment, to have been actuated by a desire to educate and uplift the souls of men. Consider, therefore, how the generality of mankind, whatever their beliefs or theories, have recognized the excellence, and admitted the superiority, of these Prophets of God. These Gems of Detachment are acclaimed by some as the embodiments of wisdom, while others believe them to be the mouthpiece of God Himself. How could such Souls have consented to surrender themselves unto their enemies if they believed all the worlds of God to have been reduced to this earthly life? Would they have willingly suffered such afflictions and torments as no man hath ever experienced or witnessed?

Regard thou the one true God as One Who is apart from, and immeasurably exalted above, all created things. The whole universe reflecteth His glory, while He is Himself independent of, and transcendeth His creatures. This is the true meaning of Divine unity. He Who is the Eternal Truth is the one Power Who exerciseth undisputed sovereignty over the world of being, Whose image is reflected in the mirror of the entire creation. All existence is dependent upon Him, and from Him is derived the source of the sustenance of all things. This is what is meant by Divine unity; this is its fundamental principle.
Some, deluded by their idle fancies, have conceived all created things as associates and partners of God, and imagined themselves to be the exponents of His unity. By Him Who is the one true God! Such men have been, and will continue to remain, the victims of blind imitation, and are to be numbered with them that have restricted and limited the conception of God.
He is a true believer in Divine unity who, far from confusing duality with oneness, refuseth to allow any notion of multiplicity to becloud his conception of the singleness of God, who will regard the Divine Being as One Who, by His very nature, transcendeth the limitations of numbers.
The essence of belief in Divine unity consisteth in regarding Him Who is the Manifestation of God and Him Who is the invisible, the inaccessible, the unknowable Essence as one and the same. By this is meant that whatever pertaineth to the former, all His acts and doings, whatever He ordaineth or forbiddeth, should be considered, in all their aspects, and under all circumstances, and without any reservation, as identical with the Will of God Himself. This is the loftiest station to which a true believer in the unity of God can ever hope to attain. Blessed is the man that reacheth this station, and is of them that are steadfast in their belief.

The Great Being, wishing to reveal the prerequisites of the peace and tranquillity of the world and the advancement of its peoples, hath written: The time must come when the imperative necessity for the holding of a vast, an all-embracing assemblage of men will be universally realized. The rulers and kings of the earth must needs attend it, and, participating in its deliberations, must consider such ways and means as will lay the foundations of the world’s Great Peace amongst men. Such a peace demandeth that the Great Powers should resolve, for the sake of the tranquillity of the peoples of the earth, to be fully reconciled among themselves. Should any king take up arms against another, all should unitedly arise and prevent him. If this be done, the nations of the world will no longer require any armaments, except for the purpose of preserving the security of their realms and of maintaining internal order within their territories. This will ensure the peace and composure of every people, government and nation. We fain would hope that the kings and rulers of the earth, the mirrors of the gracious and almighty name of God, may attain unto this station, and shield mankind from the onslaught of tyranny. … The day is approaching when all the peoples of the world will have adopted one universal language and one common script. When this is achieved, to whatsoever city a man may journey, it shall be as if he were entering his own home. These things are obligatory and absolutely essential. It is incumbent upon every man of insight and understanding to strive to translate that which hath been written into reality and action…. That one indeed is a man who, today, dedicateth himself to the service of the entire human race. The Great Being saith: Blessed and happy is he that ariseth to promote the best interests of the peoples and kindreds of the earth. In another passage He hath proclaimed: It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.

How wondrous is the unity of the Living, the Ever-Abiding God—a unity which is exalted above all limitations, that transcendeth the comprehension of all created things! He hath, from everlasting, dwelt in His inaccessible habitation of holiness and glory, and will unto everlasting continue to be enthroned upon the heights of His independent sovereignty and grandeur. How lofty hath been His incorruptible Essence, how completely independent of the knowledge of all created things, and how immensely exalted will it remain above the praise of all the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth! From the exalted source, and out of the essence of His favor and bounty He hath entrusted every created thing with a sign of His knowledge, so that none of His creatures may be deprived of its share in expressing, each according to its capacity and rank, this knowledge. This sign is the mirror of His beauty in the world of creation. The greater the effort exerted for the refinement of this sublime and noble mirror, the more faithfully will it be made to reflect the glory of the names and attributes of God, and reveal the wonders of His signs and knowledge. Every created thing will be enabled (so great is this reflecting power) to reveal the potentialities of its preordained station, will recognize its capacity and limitations, and will testify to the truth that “He, verily, is God; there is none other God besides Him.”… There can be no doubt whatever that, in consequence of the efforts which every man may consciously exert and as a result of the exertion of his own spiritual faculties, this mirror can be so cleansed from the dross of earthly defilements and purged from satanic fancies as to be able to draw nigh unto the meads of eternal holiness and attain the courts of everlasting fellowship. In pursuance, however, of the principle that for every thing a time hath been fixed, and for every fruit a season hath been ordained, the latent energies of such a bounty can best be released, and the vernal glory of such a gift can only be manifested, in the Days of God. Invested though each day may be with its preordained share of God’s wondrous grace, the Days immediately associated with the Manifestation of God possess a unique distinction and occupy a station which no mind can ever comprehend. Such is the virtue infused into them that if the hearts of all that dwell in the heavens and the earth were, in those days of everlasting delight, to be brought face to face with that Daystar of unfading glory and attuned to His Will, each would find itself exalted above all earthly things, radiant with His light, and sanctified through His grace. All hail to this grace which no blessing, however great, can excel, and all honor to such a loving-kindness the like of which the eye of creation hath not seen! Exalted is He above that which they attribute unto Him or recount about Him! It is for this reason that, in those days, no man shall ever stand in need of his neighbor. It hath already been abundantly demonstrated that in that divinely appointed Day the majority of them that have sought and attained His holy court have revealed such knowledge and wisdom, a drop of which none else besides these holy and sanctified souls, however long he may have taught or studied, hath grasped or will ever comprehend. It is by virtue of this power that the beloved of God have, in the days of the Manifestation of the Daystar of Truth, been exalted above, and made independent of, all human learning. Nay, from their hearts and the springs of their innate powers hath gushed out unceasingly the inmost essence of human learning and wisdom.

The Purpose of the one true God, exalted be His glory, in revealing Himself unto men is to lay bare those gems that lie hidden within the mine of their true and inmost selves. That the divers communions of the earth, and the manifold systems of religious belief, should never be allowed to foster the feelings of animosity among men, is, in this Day, of the essence of the Faith of God and His Religion. These principles and laws, these firmly established and mighty systems, have proceeded from one Source, and are the rays of one Light. That they differ one from another is to be attributed to the varying requirements of the ages in which they were promulgated.
Gird up the loins of your endeavor, O people of Bahá, that haply the tumult of religious dissension and strife that agitateth the peoples of the earth may be stilled, that every trace of it may be completely obliterated. For the love of God, and them that serve Him, arise to aid this most sublime and momentous Revelation. Religious fanaticism and hatred are a world-devouring fire, whose violence none can quench. The Hand of Divine power can, alone, deliver mankind from this desolating affliction.…
The utterance of God is a lamp, whose light is these words: Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship. He Who is the Daystar of Truth beareth Me witness! So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth. The one true God, He Who knoweth all things, Himself testifieth to the truth of these words.
Exert yourselves that ye may attain this transcendent and most sublime station, the station that can ensure the protection and security of all mankind. This goal excelleth every other goal, and this aspiration is the monarch of all aspirations. So long, however, as the thick clouds of oppression, which obscure the daystar of justice, remain undispelled, it would be difficult for the glory of this station to be unveiled to men’s eyes.…
Consort with all men, O people of Bahá, in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship. If ye be aware of a certain truth, if ye possess a jewel, of which others are deprived, share it with them in a language of utmost kindliness and goodwill. If it be accepted, if it fulfill its purpose, your object is attained. If anyone should refuse it, leave him unto himself, and beseech God to guide him. Beware lest ye deal unkindly with him. A kindly tongue is the lodestone of the hearts of men. It is the bread of the spirit, it clotheth the words with meaning, it is the fountain of the light of wisdom and understanding.…

Say: Deliver your souls, O people, from the bondage of self, and purify them from all attachment to anything besides Me. Remembrance of Me cleanseth all things from defilement, could ye but perceive it. Say: Were all created things to be entirely divested of the veil of worldly vanity and desire, the Hand of God would in this Day clothe them, one and all, with the robe “He doeth whatsoever He willeth in the kingdom of creation,” that thereby the sign of His sovereignty might be manifested in all things. Exalted then be He, the Sovereign Lord of all, the Almighty, the Supreme Protector, the All-Glorious, the Most Powerful.
Intone, O My servant, the verses of God that have been received by thee, as intoned by them who have drawn nigh unto Him, that the sweetness of thy melody may kindle thine own soul, and attract the hearts of all men. Whoso reciteth, in the privacy of his chamber, the verses revealed by God, the scattering angels of the Almighty shall scatter abroad the fragrance of the words uttered by his mouth, and shall cause the heart of every righteous man to throb. Though he may, at first, remain unaware of its effect, yet the virtue of the grace vouchsafed unto him must needs sooner or later exercise its influence upon his soul. Thus have the mysteries of the Revelation of God been decreed by virtue of the Will of Him Who is the Source of power and wisdom.
O Khalíl! God beareth Me witness. Though My Pen be still moving on My Tablet, yet, in its very heart, it weepeth and is sore distressed. The lamp burning before the Throne, likewise, weepeth and groaneth by reason of the things which the Ancient Beauty hath suffered at the hands of them who are but a creation of His Will. God, Himself, knoweth and testifieth to the truth of My words. No man that hath purged his ear from the loud clamor of the infidels, and inclined it to all created things, can fail to hear the voice of their lamentation and weeping over the trouble that hath befallen Us at the hands of those of Our servants that have disbelieved in, and rebelled against, Us. Thus have We disclosed to thee a glimmer of the woes that have come upon us, that thou mayest be made aware of Our sufferings, and patiently endure thy sorrows.
Arise to aid thy Lord at all times and in all circumstances, and be thou one of His helpers. Admonish, then, the people to lend a hearing ear to the words which the Spirit of God hath uttered in this irradiant and resplendent Tablet. Say: Sow not, O people, the seeds of dissension amongst men, and contend not with your neighbor. Be patient under all conditions, and place your whole trust and confidence in God. Aid ye your Lord with the sword of wisdom and of utterance. This indeed well becometh the station of man. To depart from it would be unworthy of God, the Sovereign Lord of all, the Glorified. The people, however, have been led astray, and are truly of the heedless.
Unlock, O people, the gates of the hearts of men with the keys of the remembrance of Him Who is the Remembrance of God and the Source of wisdom amongst you. He hath chosen out of the whole world the hearts of His servants, and made them each a seat for the revelation of His glory. Wherefore, sanctify them from every defilement, that the things for which they were created may be engraven upon them. This indeed is a token of God’s bountiful favor.
Beautify your tongues, O people, with truthfulness, and adorn your souls with the ornament of honesty. Beware, O people, that ye deal not treacherously with anyone. Be ye the trustees of God amongst His creatures, and the emblems of His generosity amidst His people. They that follow their lusts and corrupt inclinations, have erred and dissipated their efforts. They, indeed, are of the lost. Strive, O people, that your eyes may be directed towards the mercy of God, that your hearts may be attuned to His wondrous remembrance, that your souls may rest confidently upon His grace and bounty, that your feet may tread the path of His good-pleasure. Such are the counsels which I bequeath unto you. Would that ye might follow My counsels!

It is Our wish and desire that every one of you may become a source of all goodness unto men, and an example of uprightness to mankind. Beware lest ye prefer yourselves above your neighbors. Fix your gaze upon Him Who is the Temple of God amongst men. He, in truth, hath offered up His life as a ransom for the redemption of the world. He, verily, is the All-Bountiful, the Gracious, the Most High. If any differences arise amongst you, behold Me standing before your face, and overlook the faults of one another for My name’s sake and as a token of your love for My manifest and resplendent Cause. We love to see you at all times consorting in amity and concord within the paradise of My good-pleasure, and to inhale from your acts the fragrance of friendliness and unity, of loving-kindness and fellowship. Thus counseleth you the All-Knowing, the Faithful. We shall always be with you; if We inhale the perfume of your fellowship, Our heart will assuredly rejoice,for naught else can satisfy Us. To this beareth witness every man of true understanding.

The Most Great Name beareth Me witness! How sad if any man were, in this Day, to rest his heart on the transitory things of this world! Arise, and cling firmly to the Cause of God. Be most loving one to another. Burn away, wholly for the sake of the Well-Beloved, the veil of self with the flame of the undying Fire, and with faces joyous and beaming with light, associate with your neighbor. Ye have well observed, in all its aspects, the behavior of Him Who is the Word of Truth amidst you. Ye know full well how hard it is for this Youth to allow, though it be for one night, the heart of anyone of the beloved of God to be saddened by Him.
The Word of God hath set the heart of the world afire; how regrettable if ye fail to be enkindled with its flame! Please God, ye will regard this blessed night as the night of unity, will knit your souls together, and resolve to adorn yourselves with the ornament of a goodly and praiseworthy character. Let your principal concern be to rescue the fallen from the slough of impending extinction, and to help him embrace the ancient Faith of God. Your behavior towards your neighbor should be such as to manifest clearly the signs of the one true God, for ye are the first among men to recreated by His Spirit, the first to adore and bow the knee before Him, the first to circle round His throne of glory. I swear by Him Who hath caused Me to reveal whatever hath pleased Him! Ye are better known to the inmates of the Kingdom on high than ye are known to your own selves. Think ye these words to be vain and empty? Would that ye had the power to perceive the things your Lord, the All-Merciful, doth see—things that attest the excellence of your rank, that bear witness to the greatness of your worth, that proclaim the sublimity of your station! God grant that your desires and unmortified passions may not hinder you from that which hath been ordained for you.

Should any man, in this Day, arise and, with absolute detachment from all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, set his affections on Him Who is the Dayspring of God’s holy Revelation, he will, verily, be empowered to subdue all created things, through the potency of one of the Names of the Lord, his God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Know thou of a certainty that the Daystar of Truth hath, in this Day, shed upon the world a radiance, the like of which bygone ages have never witnessed. Let the light of His glory, O people, shine upon you, and be not of the negligent.

Thine eye is My trust, suffer not the dust of vain desires to becloud its luster. Thine ear is a sign of My bounty, let not the tumult of unseemly motives turn it away from My Word that encompasseth all creation. Thine heart is My treasury, allow not the treacherous hand of self to rob thee of the pearls which I have treasured therein. Thine hand is a symbol of My loving-kindness, hinder it not from holding fast unto My guarded and hidden Tablets.… Unasked, I have showered upon thee My grace. Unpetitioned, I have fulfilled thy wish. In spite of thy undeserving, I have singled thee out for My richest, My incalculable favors.… O My servants! Be as resigned and submissive as the earth, that from the soil of your being there may blossom the fragrant, the holy and multicolored hyacinths of My knowledge. Be ablaze as the fire, that ye may burn away the veils of heedlessness and set aglow, through the quickening energies of the love of God, the chilled and wayward heart. Be light and untrammeled as the breeze, that ye may obtain admittance into the precincts of My court, My inviolable Sanctuary.

The first duty prescribed by God for His servants is the recognition of Him Who is the Dayspring of His Revelation and the Fountain of His laws, Who representeth the Godhead in both the Kingdom of His Cause and the world of creation. Whoso achieveth this duty hath attained unto all good; and whoso is deprived thereof, hath gone astray, though he be the author of every righteous deed. It behooveth every one who reacheth this most sublime station, this summit of transcendent glory, to observe every ordinance of Him Who is the Desire of the world. These twin duties are inseparable. Neither is acceptable without the other. Thus hath it been decreed by Him Who is the Source of Divine inspiration.
They whom God hath endued with insight will readily recognize that the precepts laid down by God constitute the highest means for the maintenance of order in the world and the security of its peoples. He that turneth away from them, is accounted among the abject and foolish. We, verily, have commanded you to refuse the dictates of your evil passions and corrupt desires, and not to transgress the bounds which the Pen of the Most High hath fixed, for these are the breath of life unto all created things. The seas of Divine wisdom and divine utterance have risen under the breath of the breeze of the All-Merciful. Hasten to drink your fill, O men of understanding! They that have violated the Covenant of God by breaking His commandments, and have turned back on their heels, these have erred grievously in the sight of God, the All-Possessing, the Most High.
O ye peoples of the world! Know assuredly that My commandments are the lamps of My loving providence among My servants, and the keys of My mercy for My creatures. Thus hath it been sent down from the heaven of the Will of your Lord, the Lord of Revelation. Were any man to taste the sweetness of the words which the lips of the All-Merciful have willed to utter, he would, though the treasures of the earth be in his possession, renounce them one and all, that he might vindicate the truth of even one of His commandments, shining above the dayspring of His bountiful care and loving-kindness.
Say: From My laws the sweet smelling savor of My garment can be smelled, and by their aid the standards of victory will be planted upon the highest peaks. The Tongue of My power hath, from the heaven of My omnipotent glory, addressed to My creation these words: “Observe My commandments, for the love of My beauty.” Happy is the lover that hath inhaled the divine fragrance of his Best-Beloved from these words, laden with the perfume of a grace which no tongue can describe. By My life! He who hath drunk the choice wine of fairness from the hands of My bountiful favor, will circle around My commandments that shine above the Dayspring of My creation.
Think not that We have revealed unto you a mere code of laws. Nay, rather, We have unsealed the choice Wine with the fingers of might and power. To this beareth witness that which the Pen of Revelation hath revealed. Meditate upon this, O men of insight!…
Whenever My laws appear like the sun in the heaven of Mine utterance, they must be faithfully obeyed by all, though My decree be such as to cause the heaven of every religion to be cleft asunder. He doth what He pleaseth. He chooseth, and none may question His choice. Whatsoever He, the Well-Beloved, ordaineth, the same is, verily, beloved. To this He Who is the Lord of all creation beareth Me witness. Whoso hath inhaled the sweet fragrance of the All-Merciful, and recognized the Source of this utterance, will welcome with his own eyes the shafts of the enemy, that he may establish the truth of the laws of God amongst men. Well is it with him that hath turned thereunto, and apprehended the meaning of His decisive decree.

He Who is the Eternal Truth hath, from the Dayspring of Glory, directed His eyes towards the people of Bahá, and is addressing them in these words: “Address yourselves to the promotion of the well-being and tranquillity of the children of men. Bend your minds and wills to the education of the peoples and kindreds of the earth, that haply the dissensions that divide it may, through the power of the Most Great Name, be blotted out from its face, and all mankind become the upholders of one Order, and the inhabitants of one City. Illumine and hallow your hearts; let them not be profaned by the thorns of hate or the thistles of malice. Ye dwell in one world, and have been created through the operation of one Will. Blessed is he who mingleth with all men in a spirit of utmost kindliness and love.

He is indeed a true believer in the unity of God who, in this Day, will regard Him as One immeasurably exalted above all the comparisons and likenesses with which men have compared Him. He hath erred grievously who hath mistaken these comparisons and likenesses for God Himself. Consider the relation between the craftsman and his handiwork, between the painter and his painting. Can it ever be maintained that the work their hands have produced is the same as themselves? By Him Who is the Lord of the Throne above and of earth below! They can be regarded in no other light except as evidences that proclaim the excellence and perfection of their author.
O Shaykh, O thou who hast surrendered thy will to God! By self-surrender and perpetual union with God is meant that men should merge their will wholly in the Will of God, and regard their desires as utter nothingness beside His Purpose. Whatsoever the Creator commandeth His creatures to observe, the same must they diligently, and with the utmost joy and eagerness, arise and fulfill. They should in no wise allow their fancy to obscure their judgment, neither should they regard their own imaginings as the voice of the Eternal. In the Prayer of Fasting We have revealed: “Should Thy Will decree that out of Thy mouth these words proceed and be addressed unto them, ‘Observe, for My Beauty’s sake, the fast, O people, and set no limit to its duration,’ I swear by the majesty of Thy glory, that every one of them will faithfully observe it, will abstain from whatsoever will violate Thy law, and will continue to do so until they yield up their souls unto Thee.” In this consisteth the complete surrender of one’s will to the Will of God. Meditate on this, that thou mayest drink in the waters of everlasting life which flow through the words of the Lord of all mankind, and mayest testify that the one true God hath ever been immeasurably exalted above His creatures. He, verily, is the Incomparable, the Ever-Abiding, the Omniscient, the All-Wise. The station of absolute selfsurrender transcendeth, and will ever remain exalted above, every other station.
It behooveth thee to consecrate thyself to the Will of God. Whatsoever hath been revealed in His Tablets is but a reflection of His Will. So complete must be thy consecration, that every trace of worldly desire will be washed from thine heart. This is the meaning of true unity.
Do thou beseech God to enable thee to remain steadfast in this path, and to aid thee to guide the peoples of the world to Him Who is the manifest and sovereign Ruler, Who hath revealed Himself in a distinct attire, Who giveth utterance to a Divine and specific Message. This is the essence of faith and certitude. They that are the worshipers of the idol which their imaginations have carved, and who call it Inner Reality, such men are in truth accounted among the heathen. To this hath the AllMerciful borne witness in His Tablets. He, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

Know thou that every hearing ear, if kept pure and undefiled, must, at all times and from every direction, hearken to the voice that uttereth these holy words: “Verily, we are God’s, and to Him shall we return.” The mysteries of man’s physical death and of his return have not been divulged, and still remain unread. By the righteousness of God! Were they to be revealed, they would evoke such fear and sorrow that some would perish, while others would be so filled with gladness as to wish for death, and beseech, with unceasing longing, the one true God—exalted be His glory—to hasten their end.
Death proffereth unto every confident believer the cup that is life indeed. It bestoweth joy, and is the bearer of gladness. It conferreth the gift of everlasting life.
As to those that have tasted of the fruit of man’s earthly existence, which is the recognition of the one true God, exalted be His glory, their life hereafter is such as We are unable to describe. The knowledge thereof is with God, alone, the Lord of all worlds.

Whoso layeth claim to a Revelation direct from God, ere the expiration of a full thousand years, such a man is assuredly a lying impostor. We pray God that He may graciously assist him to retract and repudiate such claim. Should he repent, God will, no doubt, forgive him. If, however, he persisteth in his error, God will, assuredly, send down one who will deal mercilessly with him. Terrible, indeed, is God in punishing! Whosoever interpreteth this verse otherwise than its obvious meaning is deprived of the Spirit of God and of His mercy which encompasseth all created things. Fear God, and follow not your idle fancies. Nay, rather follow the bidding of your Lord, the Almighty, the All-Wise.

In just over one hundred years the Baha’i Faith has grown from an obscure movement in the Middle East to the second most widespread world religion after Christianity. With some 8 million adherents in virtually every corner of the globe – including people from every nation, ethnic group. culture, profession, and social or economic class – it is probably the most diverse organized body of people on the planet today.
Its founder, Baha’ullah, taught that there is one God, Who progressively reveals His Will to humanity. Each of the great religions brought by the Messengers of God – Abraham and Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Jesus, Muhammad, the Bab – represents a successive stage in the spiritual development of the human race. Baha’ullah, the most recent Messenger in this line, has brought teachings that address the moral and spiritual challenges of today’s world.
The Baha’i Faith teaches that there is only one human race and that religion should be a source of unity; condemns all forms of prejudice and racism; upholds the equality of women and men; confirms the importance and value of marriage and the family; establishes the need for the independent investigation of the truth; insists on access to education for all; asserts the essential harmony between science and religion; declares the need to eliminate extremes of wealth and poverty; and exalts work done in a spirit of service to the level of worship.
Baha’is believe that religion should be a dynamic force that raises the individual, family, and community to new spiritual heights. To this end Baha’is all around the world work to create an atmosphere of love and unity in their own lives, in their families, and in their communities.

Brenda L. of Ohio: Breast Cancer
“Eight years ago, Brenda was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was in stage I when they found it. She underwent the lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy.
A lumpectomy is where just the tumor is removed as well as the normal breast tissue that closely surrounds the tumor. Sentinel node refers to the first lymph node(s) that drains from the breast tumor area (found by injecting a radioactive dye).
“They shoot radiation into your breast and they follow it up to the nodes to make sure that you don’t have cancer in your lymph nodes. And I did not, so all I had to have was radiation…and hormone therapy. Because my cancer was fed by the estrogen.”
Tamoxifen is used to treat certain types of breast cancer that require estrogen to grow. It’s often used following surgery and radiation. (Drugs.com can provide more information on this line of treatment.)
“That’s the drug from Hell, too…the hot flashes were like a hundred times worse. I mean you just break out into a sweat all over. For no reason. I mean 25, 30 times a day. And the radiation…it was..I don’t know…it was a weakening. It didn’t hurt. It was completely painless. You wonder, what are they shooting through your body? But you…can’t feel it. But you can afterwards.”
Brenda still has scars from the over-spray of the radiation, now, eight years later. It burned her skin. Brenda was lucky that she’s dark skinned. After the treatment, “…they were surprised because they said, most of the time, the skin peels away. But I’m part Indian. They said I did very well.”
One of her breasts is bigger than the other because of the effects of the radiation.
“After the radiation, it left you very drained. And, so nauseous, you didn’t even want to think about food.”
Brenda had heard that cannabis was good for treating the nausea following cancer therapy. So she tried it. “And I could eat my dinner.”
Maintaining a consistent weight was important. The wasting that follows this kind of treatment can kill just as easily as the cancer it’s self.
Brenda underwent thirty-five days of radiation. “Boom, boom, boom.” That’s the deliberate way the treatments went. Then, another type of radiation. “They gave me two different kinds.”
“If I hadn’t had the cannabis to get through the nauseousness, I would have lost weight and, I don’t know, who knows what would have happened.”
“Cannabis gives me a lift. It doesn’t lay me back or anything. I want to do things, and it gave me energy that I didn’t have at that time. I could eat. That was the important thing.”
Since she smoked her cannabis, she did have some respiratory irritation, but that was minimal and could have been remedied if she would have known about vaporizers.
Brenda also suffers from arthritis in her knee and in her hip. In addition, she has chronic pain in her feet and has had surgery in both of them.
“…I get around real well. Fifty-seven and I still mow the grass. I usually smoke cannabis before I do. It kind of lessens the pain and keeps me going.”
The anti-inflammatory benefit of cannabis helps her with her arthritic pain. “It takes your mind away; away from your pain.”
Brenda sums up her feelings about cannabis by saying, “They should let people grow their own medicine if they want to. And it would be so easy. So easy for somebody. Plant a little seed. Get some medicine.”
Catherine Adaberry of Missouri: Breast Cancer
Catherine developed breast cancer in 2002. She was in her 40’s. No one in her family had ever dealt with the disease. It was a difficult time for her and her loved ones. She underwent surgery and considerable chemotherapy and radiation treatments. “Physically, it took quite a toll on me…I was very sick.”
“I was sick the whole time, and I used marijuana. It helped.”
She had heard that cannabis could help with those battling cancer. A member of her extended family had dealt with brain cancer. He used cannabis and attributed his prolonged life to his use of cannabis.
With the chemo, Catherine didn’t want to eat. She just didn’t have an appetite. She was a nervous wreck. “I would smoke and I could eat. I would smoke and I could sleep. With the radiation, it was the same thing.”
“There’s just so much stress with having cancer. I mean, your hair falls out. You don’t feel good. I had grand babies during that time and I couldn’t hold them. I was an emotional wreck. It helped. So many pills…you don’t want to take another pill. It was so much better just to smoke – and to eat – and to smoke – and to sleep.”
She lived in Sheldon and would have to travel to treatment in Kansas City or Joplin. When she was undergoing chemotherapy, she would have to spend the night there. It was stressful having to carry cannabis with her. But it was necessary, to get through the treatments.
She would tell others who were also battling cancer about cannabis. “It helps with your stomach. Your stomach is just in knots all the time. It does help. It helped me a lot.”
The stress of trying to find cannabis was particular hard. It’s unfortunate, but most cancer patients across this country have to go to the street to get their medicine; from someone they don’t know, dealing out of their car. Never knowing what they are getting. “And you don’t know what kind of trouble you might be getting yourself into, either. If it would have been legal, things would have been a lot easier.”
These days, she’s doing well. But she still talks to people about cannabis; those diagnosed with cancer. If they can’t eat or can’t sleep – “I know it will help them.”

It Works (Abstract)
There is a plentiful supply of research articles and personal testaments that show the efficacy of cannabis effecting cancer remission. However, only a few point to the mechanism by which the cancer cells die. To understand this better we need to know what metabolic processes provide life to the cells.
There are two structures in most cells that sustains life; one is the mitochondria, and the other is the endoplasmic reticulum. The mitochondria primarily produces adenosine triphosphate (ATP) that provides the necessary energy. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a loosely bound envelope around the cell nucleus that synthesizes metabolites and proteins directed by the nuclear DNA that nourish and sustain the cell.
Let us look first at tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and observe that THC is a natural fit for the CB1 cannabinoid receptor on the cancer cell surface. When THC hits the receptor, the cell generates ceramide that disrupts the mitochondria, closing off energy for the cell.
Disruption of the mitochondria releases cytochrome c and reactive oxygen species into the cytosol, hastening cell death. It is notable that this process is specific to cancer cells. Healthy cells have no reaction to THC at the CB1 receptor. The increase in ceramide also disrupts calcium metabolism in the mitochondria, completing the demise to cell death.
The other cannabinoid we know is effective in killing cancer cells is cannabidiol (CBD). The primary job of CBD in the cancer cell is to disrupt the endoplasmic reticulum through wrecking of the calcium metabolism, pushing calcium into the cytosol. This always results in cell death. Another pathway for CBD to effect cancer cell death is the Caspase Cascade, which breaks down proteins and peptides in the cell. When this happens the cell cannot survive. Again, these processes are specific to cancer cells, no normal cells are affected.

Initially, nine years ago, I persistently learned and practiced Wuji Qigong from Taoist Master Michael Winn, Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong from
Master Li Jun Feng, and finally became certified as a Pan Gu Mystical Qigong instructor from Master Ou Wen Wei. I have noticed that my symptoms of fatigue, depression and high blood pressure gradually went away for good but my failing left eye with soreness seemed to still bother me.
